The Barbara beach club opened on East Beach this spring and is making a big splash with its niche market of no-or-low membership fees between $200-$450 depending. I am all for a club in this town that doesn’t ask 6 figures just to walk through their door.

They Have It All
They have lounges, cabanas, umbrellas, coolers, ice to put into the coolers, snacks of all sorts, drinks, games, and my favorite part—tan, hunky guys who will bring it all to you. If you need help adjusting your umbrella, arranging something special, or want to make your setup more bougie, all you need to do is ask.
One hunk swooped in to deliver a bag of ice with the stealth and grace of a silent warrior. Had it not been for my incredible peripheral vision I would have missed this shot.

Locals & Visitors Love It
For locals, The Barbara solves a familiar problem: wanting to enjoy the beach without lugging bulky gear back along. For out-of-towners, it offers a welcoming way to experience one of Santa Barbara’s best beach settings with comfort already built in. I think it is a smart addition to Santa Barbara—stylish without being stuffy, helpful without being intrusive, and relaxed in exactly the way a beach club should be.
